Careers in Midwifery

Positions in our practice for a midwives, apprentices, volunteers or office staff will be considered on a case by case basis. You are welcome to send a CV or resume to our office for our consideration. At present our focus is to provide clinical placement sites for students currently enrolled in recognized schools of midwifery.

Unfortunately at this time there are no formal secondary midwifery training programs available in Alberta. If you are a current registered midwife in another jurisdiction or country, please use the link provided to obtain information on The Multijurisdictional Midwifery Bridging Project.

Midwifery Schools and Training Programs

Multi-Jurisdictional Midwifery Bridging Project

University baccalaureate programs leading to a degree of Bachelor of Health Sciences (B.H.Sc.) in Midwifery are available at:

  • Reciprocal registration to practice is available for midwives currently registered in British Columbia (see here for the College of Midwives of BC) and Ontario.

  • Midwives from other jurisdictions must be assessed by the the Midwifery Committee, a professional regulatory body. For more information on midwifery registration in Alberta call toll free 310-0000 from anywhere in Alberta. Outside Alberta, call long distance (780) 427-2711. Operators are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, Monday to Friday.
