Rachel Kemp, R.N. R.M.
I am originally from Northern Ireland and moved to Calgary in June 2014 with my husband, Neil, and two children, Andrew and Lily. We live in the NW of the city and are loving life in Canada. I had always wanted to be a nurse and once I got a taste of midwifery during my nurse training, I knew being a midwife was ultimately what I wanted to do.
I completed my education as a nurse and midwife in London, United Kingdom. In 1999, I received my BSc (Hons) in Nursing Studies from South Bank University, London and practiced in many areas including General Medicine, Renal Transplant Intensive Care, Trauma and Emergency Care, Resuscitation and Code Team.
My career as a midwife started in 2005 when I completed my BSc (Hons) in Midwifery from Kings College, London and I have loved practicing since then. I have worked as a caseload midwife and a labour & delivery midwife in London, Belfast and Newry (Northern Ireland).
After arriving in Canada, I had the opportunity to work as a nurse in Labour and Delivery and Neonatal Intensive Care. I registered as a midwife in Alberta in January 2016 and was thrilled to join the Briar Hill Midwives Team. I am both excited and honoured to continue my midwifery practice in Alberta.
